This Month In Style: March 2023

Style Magazine – March 2023

Whatever the midday meal means to you—leftovers from last night’s dinner, something small and snack-like, or a time to consume more filling fare—you won’t want to miss this month’s feature: “Let’s Do Lunch!” Flip to page 60 to read about 35 of the most economical, most appetizing entrées available locally. From predictable plates prepared in unpredictable ways (like The Independent’s spicy grilled cheese with chipotle aioli, white cheddar and Hatch chile cheeses, caramelized onions, and chopped bacon), to more unique eats like gumbo, gyros, and chicken & waffles, there’s sure to be a dish that speaks to your stomach. We also asked the experts (local deli owners) what takes sandwiches from being “sub”par to superior. Check out page 63 to uncover their top tips and tricks for building a perfect bite.

What else is inside these glossy print pages? In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we have some local ways to celebrate (page 106) and a roundup of 12 must-try “green” (as in the color) things: an iced matcha latte made with coconut milk, Brussels sprouts with bacon vinaigrette, key lime pie, and pesto pasta, to name a few. Dig in starting on page 92.

Once you’ve had your fill of food, turn to The 10 Spot for “Rainy Day Diversions” (page 16), Get to Know for a spotlight on fearless frontline leaders (page 20), and Health & Wellness for “A Guide to Glowing Skin” (page 36).

As always, in What’s Up (page 12), we share the newest businesses on the block. This month’s roundup is extra exciting, because it includes breweries, boutique fitness studios, and a handful of new lunchtime hot spots.

Enjoy the issue—and the longer, light-filled days (starting March 12). Cheers!
