A HEART FOR THE ARTS
In honor of National Arts and Humanities Month, help recognize the contributions of our community’s various arts organizations by attending a concert or theatrical performance, visiting an art gallery, or taking part in an art class.
Folsom Parks and Recreation’s Fall Activity Guide includes a wide range of dance and art classes for youth, teens, adults and seniors. Most of these programs take place at the Folsom Art Center, located at 48 Natoma Street. The center is also home to the Gallery at 48 Natoma, showcasing regional and national artists, museum collections and traveling exhibitions. The gallery’s current Kid in the Candy Store exhibit features beautiful sculptures by Camille VandenBerge and select works from famed artists of the “Funk Art” ceramics movement; hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and entry is free.

The El Dorado Hills CSD has something for everyone. Mark your calendar for the following:
SCARECROW CONTEST
OCTOBER 19
The CSD Quad from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Youth groups, classrooms, families, service clubs, organizations, individuals and businesses are invited to take part in the competition. No fee but entry forms are required.
PUMPKIN SPLASH PATCH
OCTOBER 21
Begin your quest for the perfect Halloween pumpkin at the CSD Community Pool from 2-4 p.m. Children (ages 3-10) should come wearing their swimsuits for this holiday hunt in the heated pool (followed by an open swim). After finding their prized gourd, kiddos can decorate and take it home. Admission ($12 per person) includes a pumpkin, decorating supplies, swim pass for the day and a special trick-or-treat goodie bag. Pre-registration is required.
TRUNK OR TREAT
OCTOBER 27
From 3:30-5 p.m., trunk or treaters will go from trunk to trunk at the CSD parking lot, collecting candy from volunteers who have decorated their vehicles. Other activities include a “Spooky Scarecrow Trail,” ghoulish games and a creepy cakewalk.
WANTED! Trunks and candy contributors. Volunteers will be asked to decorate their trunk or tailgate and provide them as stopping points for candy distribution; businesses and individuals are also needed to donate money or candy.
