Catch All: Johnny Cash Trail Grand Opening

Oct 04, 2017 01:42PM ● By Emily Peter

Folsom has an extensive history, including the time Johnny Cash spent here. Continue the celebration at the Johnny Cash Trail Grand Opening on October 14, featuring all-day activities and entertainment, including a festival, community bike ride, a 4.2-mile run/walk, a 6.2-mile run, live music and food. Registration fees are $40 for the 4.2-mile run/walk ($45 day of), $45 for the 6.2-mile run ($50 day of), and a $10 suggested donation for the community bike ride (participants must be at least 12 years old). Proceeds benefit the Johnny Cash Trail Art Experience and are earmarked for two, seven-foot bronze guitar picks, named Cash’s Pick that will anchor each end of the trail. “Participants will be some of the first to see and explore the completed Johnny Cash Trail, and one of the highlights of all the events is the opportunity to cross the new Robbers’ Ravine Bridge—a 190-foot-long wood arched bridge that soars 45 feet above a tributary of the American River and provides spectacular scenery,” explains Folsom Parks and Recreation Marketing Coordinator Lesley Miller. “The events provide a great opportunity for families to enjoy a morning of fresh air and fitness, and celebrate this amazing new addition to Folsom’s renowned recreational trail system.”
