Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you? 

 

I had always enjoyed the winemaking process—from agriculture to enjoyment—and it was something very tangible to offset the largely intangible results generated when I was a Silicon Valley CPA.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

I cleaned stables. Talk about learning from the “bottom.”

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

We donate to every cause that asks, as long as they visit us to pick up the donation, and pour our wines at local fund-raising events. We’ve picked a few special causes—including King Fire Relief and the Celina Alexandre Memorial Scholarship Fund—and raised amounts in the low five figures through our efforts. 

Who is your role model in business or in life, and why?

Colonel Sanders. He was penniless, followed an idea, never gave up, and is now a permanent American icon.

What’s your hidden talent?

It’s debatable, but I think I can sing.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Wally’s Pizza Bar.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Poor Red’s Bar-B-Q. Their reemergence was done in a very classy and professional way and blends the best of the old with the best of the new.

Everything. It’s the reason your organization will be remembered—or not.
