Catch All: Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms

Jul 28, 2016 11:16AM ● By David Norby

The Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms are setting the table on August 27 to bring communities together under a common goal: aiding local military families. Moms at the annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser—held at the Folsom Veterans Hall—will give attendees a seat, a plate and overwhelming gratitude for supporting their efforts to help the military community. One-hundred percent of the proceeds contribute to sending care packages to deployed military members and assisting veteran organizations, gold and silver-star families, families with currently deployed members, and any other local requests. This cause is especially dear to the Rolling Hills Blue Star Moms, as the members are mothers to children currently serving or who have served the country. The military families’ involvement and heavy attendance make the event all worth the effort to the Moms. “Interacting with [the families], listening to their stories and making new friends—that’s just the best,” says Chapter President Leslie Wade. Purchasing a ticket ($10 for adults, $5 for children 3-12, and free for those under 2) not only supports these programs, but it also enters guests into the door prize raffle: two, one-day passes to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. There are 20 other raffle baskets individually valued at over $200, and a grand prize of four, one-day Park Hopper passes to Disneyland and California Adventure. The Moms thought of everything to maximize this fund-raiser’s success, as a “Drive Through, To-Go” is introduced to accommodate guests on the go; beer, wine, liquors and soda will be available at an additional cost.
