Since 2011, the Harris Center has been delighting audiences with an array of art—from student-fed exhibits at the Bank of America Gallery and concert pianists in the intimate Scott-Skillman Recital Hall, to avant-garde plays in the City Studio Theater and world-class productions in the 851-seat Proscenium Theater. 

“We’ve had a tremendous response from the community, who recognize the need and desire for a regional arts center,” says Executive Director David Pier. “While we’re still fairly young, our audiences are growing every year.” 

Seeing nearly 600,000 visitors and over 450 events annually, this fall, the state-of-the-art center is bringing back acts from its inaugural season in celebration of their fifth anniversary. The season also boasts original acts to keep things hot…long into winter. Mark your calendar for these exciting fall headliners. 

August 8-9 – Kevin Costner and Modern West 

Who knew Kevin Costner could sing? With his band Modern West, Costner captivates with American roots and rock instrumentals. Touring to connect with his fans on a more personal level, we’re happy to oblige. 

August 13 – Esperanza Spalding Presents Emily’s D+Evolution

Unfolding as “live musical vignettes,” Grammy Award-winning singer-composer Esperanza (Emily) Spalding’s newest project D+Evolution was conceptualized during a “sleepless night of full moon inspiration.” Expect accompanying theatre and poetry from this multi-talented performer. 

August 29 – An Evening with Deepak Chopra: The Future of Well-being

The Spiritual Center for Positive Living presents Deepak Chopra, “one of the top 10 most influential spiritual leaders around the world,” for an evening of empowering inspiration. The renowned physician and author will present a roadmap for “higher health.” 

September 15 – An Evening with Michael Pritchard on Community and Collaboration

Share in this stirring discussion of volunteerism and teamwork with humorist and activist Michael Pritchard. Hosted by the City of Folsom, this talk initiates the recruitment for Community Service Day, mobilizing hundreds of volunteers for various projects throughout the community. Free; tickets required. 

 September 18-20 – National Acrobats and Circus of the People’s Republic of China Presents Peking Dreams

Don’t miss this jaw-dropping performance of Chinese circus and acrobatic acts and the Peking Opera. Highly trained artists juggle, contort and balance their bodies in tune with traditional Chinese music—enhanced with elaborate props and stunning costumes. 

September 25 – Gene Kelly: The Legacy—An Evening with Patricia Ward Kelly

Gene Kelly’s wife, Patricia Ward Kelly, tells the behind-the-scenes story of the legendary dancer, director and choreographer through a unique one-woman show. 

October 1-3 – Mercy Killers 

Michael Milligan’s new play is both a moving love story and a harsh look at American health care. Told through the perspective of blue-collar mechanic Joe, whose belief in liberty, hard work and self-reliance drastically changes when his wife is diagnosed with cancer. 

 October 9-10: Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India Present Spirit of India 

A colorful whirlwind of sights and sounds, the Bollywood Masala delights with a journey of music and dance to all four corners of India, from Pondicherry to Srinagar and back again.   

October 17 – Carrera Productions Presents Classic Albums Live: Jimi Hendrix – Are You Experienced? 

For the first time in popular music, the greatest albums from the ’60s and ’70s will be recreated live on stage—note for note, cut for cut. Listen as 11-piece bands, along with help from a children’s choir, a sitar player, string quartet and more, perform works by Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin.

October 18 – Te Vaka 

Te Vaka—known as one of the most talented world music acts—enchants with their own brand of South Pacific fusion. Move along with the vibrant blend of traditional rhythms, indigenous instruments and vivacious vocals of this contemporary ensemble. -Heather L. Becker
