Ask the Expert: Reflexology vs. Massage

Jun 29, 2015 12:55PM ● By Style

Q: What’s the difference between foot reflexology and foot massage?

A:  Foot reflexology is a technique that involves applied pressure therapy in order to stimulate points on the foot that correspond to specific parts of the body, thus allowing the body to improve circulation, stimulate nerve pathways, release toxin buildup and encourage lymphatic drainage.
Foot massage is normally done with a Swedish modality, which uses gentle gliding strokes, typically with massage cream or oil.
