California boasts many “wine countries,” including one right in our backyard: El Dorado.

From Placerville and Camino to Fair Play and Somerset, El Dorado County is filled with beautiful and award-winning wineries, many of which will participate in this month’s Passport 2015: Taste at a Higher Level.

Put on by the El Dorado Winery Association, the 24th annual event will be held April 11-12 and 18-19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 27 different wineries. In addition to wine tasting and food pairings, attendees will have opportunities to meet winemakers and listen to live music while enjoying stunning views of the greater El Dorado region.

Tickets are $65 for the weekend passport, $45 for a Sunday only passport, and $25 for designated drivers; a portion of proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of El Dorado County.

Consider starting your weekend early with the Winemaker Dinner—a gourmet five-course meal at Manzanita Kitchen in Diamond Springs featuring food paired with vino from participating wineries—on April 10 or 17. Tickets are limited, so purchase early! For more info, call 916-662-0008 or visit passporteldorado.com.
