Same-Day Care for Your Child’s Sports Physical - Sponsored Article
Summer is here, and for kids, that means vacation, playing with friends—even staying up past bedtime. For parents, it’s a reminder to stay ahead of the game by scheduling your child's back-to-school sports physical exam. At Dignity Health Mercy Medical Group, we're here to make it easy for you. Many of our clinics offer fast and convenient same-day sports physicals for your young athlete. And don't worry, we're also here to support your family with additional services if there's an injury.
Here are some tips to keep in your “parenting playbook”:Schedule an early exam.
There are benefits to getting your child’s sports physical done ahead of time. Seeing us six weeks before the sports season begins gives us the chance to provide any follow-up care if we find a health issue. Make it a habit to schedule these checkups at the start of every sports season to keep your child healthy on and off the field.
Prepare for the appointment.
Before your visit, take a moment to review any healthcare forms that our providers need to complete on your behalf. Bring a list of your child's medications, if they take any, along with their relevant health and medical history, and immunization records. With your child’s health information ready, your visit will be smooth and quick.
Know what to expect.During the sports physical, our healthcare team will measure your child's height and weight, check their pulse and blood pressure, test their vision, evaluate their heart, lungs, and throat, check the strength and flexibility of their arms and legs, and perform additional exam elements as determined by the provider.
