The Tommy Apostolos Fund (tommyafund.com)—a Placer County nonprofit that provides underserved children with clothes, backpacks, and other necessities—received their full grant request, $15,000, from the Roseville Grants Advisory Commision. The money will go toward volunteer-based events, including next month’s annual Kids’ Shopping Day; those interested in volunteering at the event on December 3 are invited to visit tommyafund.com/kids-shopping-day.

The Folsom Public Library (library.folsom.ca.us) named Thomas M. Gruneisen as their new library director. Gruneisen brings 12 years of library management and operations experience to the position and will manage the library’s collection of over 97,000 items and 27 public access computers, in addition to overseeing the numerous informative and entertaining programs for children, teens, and adults.

Congrats to Visconti’s Ristorante (viscontisristorante.com) on their 30-year anniversary! Since 1992, the family-run Folsom eatery has been serving southern Italian favorites, such as top-notch tiramisu and tender tortellini, in friendly environs. The community and restaurant celebrated the milestone with live music, small bites, and beverages.

Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin—a nonprofit that invests in education projects that lead to economic empowerment for women and girls—is accepting applications for awards in several categories, including teacher grants and the Live Your Dream Award, which provides women up to $1,000 (must provide the primary financial support for their families and be enrolled in trade school, community college, or higher education). Green Acres Nursery & Supply (idiggreenacres.com) is moving their first location at 901 Galleria Boulevard to 7300 Galilee Road in Roseville. Scheduled to open before the end of the year, expect multiple greenhouses, a larger indoor space, a lathhouse for shade plants, acres of outdoor space, patio furniture, grills, and more. Sutter Health (sutterhealth.org) has a new president and CEO. Warner Thomas has more than 30 years of health care leadership experience and will lead roughly 53,000 employees and over 12,000 physicians at 24 hospitals when he officially takes the reins December 1.

Lana Lane Gourmet Goods (lanalanegourmetgoods.com)—a specialty gift shop in Placerville that sells gourmet sea salts and olive oils, locally made pottery, sweet and savory jams, homemade pastries (including vegan and gluten-free options!), organic coffee, and more—has a new home (451 Main Street, Suite 3) and extended business hours.

Kaiser Permanente (healthy.kaiserpermanente.org) is moving forward with plans to build a 260,000-square-foot, four-story medical office building, the Kaiser Permanente Folsom Comprehensive Care Center, at 285 Palladio Parkway. Once complete, the center will include four surgery bays, an urgent care clinic, pharmacy, and services for adult and family medicine, mental health, physical therapy, and imaging.
