Cool Whites For Hot Days

The heat is on, and we’re looking for fun ways to cool off—like a chilled glass of white wine. Luckily, our region of chock-full of wineries, so we gathered five that are perfect for summer.


2021 Alabariño at PaZa Estate Winery

This crisp and slightly tart wine is new variety in California, and PaZa Estate Winery is the first on the Placer Wine Trail to grow it. Flavors of honeysuckle, Meyer lemon, and grapefruit are present, and it pairs well with sushi. Drink it chilled on a hot summer day.

2020 Masquerade at Belledor Vineyards

You may be surprised that this wine is a Sauvignon Blanc, as it’s “masquerading” as something smoother. It’s fermented in neutral American oak barrels and goes through malolactic fermentation to create a soft, creamy mouthfeel. The folks at Belledor recommend pairing it with poultry or seafood.

2020 Sauvignon Blanc at Twin Rocks Estate Winery

This aromatic wine is made in stainless steel containers to retain its acidity and brightness. The lush notes of honeydew, peach, tangerine, and floral essence will certainly cool you down. Sip it alongside salad, seafood, and Thai food.

2021 Musque Sauvignon Blanc At Helwig Winery

 According to the folks at Helwig, “This Sauvignon Blanc screams summer.” Say no more! Notes of white peach, lemongrass, and golden kiwi greet your senses, while flavors of lychee and honeydew envelope your palate. A perfect pairing for lounging near a body of water or on a warm patio.

Blanc de Blancs at Miraflores Winery

This new release is made from Chardonnay grapes grown in Sonoma County and has rich fruit tones of lemon curd, orange blossom, and a finish of buttery biscuit. This bubbly is sure to cool you off during hot days, and pairs perfect with an alfresco morning meal. Speaking of, we hear Miraflores hosts a great Sunday brunch.
