Ask the Experts What Are Some Ways to Practice Having More Gratitude?

Q: What are some ways to practice having more gratitude?

A: Gratitude is a choice—a state of being. When you live in this state, you begin to see more things you’re grateful for. Here are two simple ways to cultivate more gratitude:

• The moment your eyes flutter open in the morning, before your feet hit the floor, bow your head, place your hands on your heart, and find one thing you’re grateful for in that moment. Feel it in your heart and body.

• Every night, recount three things that happened during the day that you’re grateful for.
