The 10 Spot: Celebrate New Year's Eve

It’s time to look back and celebrate all the good this past year has brought us. Whether it’s through fine food or family fun, make the last day of the year count with these local happenings. Goodbye 2018—you’ve been great!

Sutter Street Theatre in Folsom is hosting a New Year’s Eve Show and Party beginning at 7 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and a no-host bar. A delicious Italian dinner will then be served followed by a performance of The Carsino Show—a spoof on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson as if enacted by members of the “mafia.” Later, welcome the new year with champagne or apple cider and noisemakers. Call 916-353-1001 to make a reservation.

Ring in 2019 at Roseville Topgolf’s Big NYE Bash where you can enjoy live entertainment, a chef-inspired menu, and an unforgettable midnight celebration. All their New Year’s Eve packages include unlimited game play from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. for up to six guests, front row seats to a midnight fireworks show, and party favors to help celebrate NYE in style. topgolf.com/us/promo/new-years-eve

Dust off those dancing shoes and head to Randy Peters Catering & Event Center in Roseville for DJ Supe Live for New Year’s Eve from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. This will be an elegant night to remember, as DJ Supe brings in 2019 with a bang. The black-tie affair will feature club classics as well as today’s hits. Contact 916-768-4753 for reservations.

No plans for NYE? The movies are always a good idea no matter what time of year. For something a little extra, catch a movie and dinner at Studio Movie Grill in Rocklin and make an evening of it. December releases include the epic Aquaman, fantastical Mortal Engines, funny Second Act, and nostalgic Mary Poppins Returnsstudiomoviegrill.com

The holiday season isn’t over yet! There’s a lot of good cheer to be found at the Folsom Historic District Ice Rink that’s open through January 21. When you’re giddy after a romp on the ring, head down to any of the cozy restaurants in and around Sutter Street for some tasty fuel to take on 2019. folsomicerink.com

Ride into the night with Sacramento RiverTrain’s New Year’s Eve Beer and Wine Bash. Departing from West Sacramento (400 North Harbor Boulevard) at 9 p.m. (boarding is at 8:30 p.m.), celebrations will include a DJ and dancing; hors d’oeuvres; wine, cider, and beer tasting; and a midnight champagne toast. sacramentorivertrain.com/calendar

Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln is where Creedence Clearwater Revisited will perform two shows on December 31 (8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.). The band features founding members Stu Cook and Doug Clifford, so be prepared for some serious nostalgia as they perform hit songs live in concert. thundervalleyresort.com/entertainment

Crocker Art Museum’s Noon Year’s Eve Family Festival is a free treat for the entire family. Adults and kids are invited to dress in purple in keeping with the décor, and enjoy live music by Pan United Youth Movement, folk dancing, festive activities throughout the museum, and the Far East Dragon Lion Dance Association who will kick-start the fun. crockerart.org
