Bloom Coffee and Tea Remodel


Bloom Coffee and Tea (1485 Eureka Road, Suite 100) in Roseville recently underwent a remodel and now has a bigger espresso machine, a cold case offering kombucha and other “grab-and-go” items, renovated restrooms, improved aesthetics, and more.

The historic Fiddyment House, established by Walter Fiddyment and his wife in 1879, will be receiving some much-needed improvements thanks to a $200,000 grant from West Roseville park funds. The Roseville Historical Society plans to one day make the house into a living history museum.

Congrats to the slew of Placer County breweries who were honored at the U.S. Open Beer Championship this July. Knee Deep Brewing Co. received silver medals for its imperial porter and triple IPA, Crooked Lane Brewing Co. received a gold medal for its Münchner Dunkel, Moonraker Brewing Co. won a silver medal for its American pale ale and bronze for both its coconut beer and cream stout, and Out of Bounds Brewing Co. won a silver medal for its wood/barrel-aged quad.

In addition to winning two gold medals for his homemade lager at Homebrew Con 2018, local Roseville resident Greg Young also received the highest honor: the Samuel Adams Ninkasi Award, given to the brewer with the most wins in the competition. Young beat out 8,400 entries (from 18 countries) to win this top award. Congrats!

Sutter Roseville Medical Center has named Brian Alexander as its new CEO. Alexander has worked at Sutter Roseville in other capacities for seven years.

Congrats to Dominick Casey, Roseville’s new city manager. Casey has worked in civil management positions for over 15 years and was formerly the director of Roseville’s parks, recreation, and libraries.

Gold Country Writers is a nonprofit focused on offering local authors and aspiring writers education, support, resources, promotion, and networking opportunities to empower them to succeed in reaching their writing and publishing goals. The Sierra College Theatre Arts Department is holding auditions for The Laramie Project—a production about the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard—on September 4-5 at their Rocklin Campus (5100 Sierra College Boulevard).
