Placerville Recreation and Parks: Hoop It Up

As summer winds down, it’s time to hoop it up with the Placerville Recreation Department! The 2019 Youth Basketball Program provides boys and girls with the opportunity to play ball in a structured, fun environment where sportsmanship and teamwork are emphasized. Players attend one practice and one game per week, January through mid-March.

DIVISIONS

Pee Wee: Kindergarten or age 5

Pee Wee: Grades 1-2 or ages 6-7

Biddy: Grades 3-4 or ages 8-9

Elementary: Grades 5-6 or ages 10-11

Junior: Grades 7-8 or ages 12-13

GAMES

All games are on Saturdays, except the junior division whose games are Sundays, beginning the weekend of January 12-13.

FORMAT

Leagues generally consist of two halves; the first half of the season is used to seed teams and, if necessary, they’re realigned at the halfway point. With the conclusion of the second half, winners of the biddy, elementary, and junior divisions receive individual trophies; all pee wee participants receive participation trophies.

COACHES

If you’re interested in volunteering your time and talent as a head coach or assistant coach, contact the  Placerville Recreation Department for more details; to encourage parent involvement and as a “thank you” for the contribution, the head coach’s child receives free program registration.

For a discounted rate, sign up for early bird registration by September 20 at 5 p.m.; the deadline for standard registration is October 25 at 5 p.m.
