Folsom Parks and Recreation: Happy Campers

Folsom Parks and Rec

Folsom Parks and Recreation’s summer day camps provide a supervised, positive, and inclusive environment with trained and caring staff. Camp sessions begin in June; times vary from a few hours to all day with extended care options.

VACATION ZONE; AGES 5-10

Weeklong sessions include theme days, outdoor games, arts and crafts, swimming, various field trips, a region-wide “Camp-A-Palooza” competition, and more. Campers are divided into groups for ages 5-7 and 8-10, ensuring activities are age-appropriate. Times are from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, with early drop-off and late pick-up options available for an additional fee.

SUMMER CAVE; GRADES 6-8

Camp is held Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and includes sports, organized games and activities, walking excursions, and field trips to enjoy hiking, professional sports games, theme parks, and more.

FOLSOM CITY ZOO SANCTUARY; AGES 4-7, 8-11, & 12-15

Campers get to meet some of the zoo’s outreach animals and learn more about the creatures through songs, crafts, and stories. Older kids can try their hand at real zookeeper duties—preparing meals for the animals, cleaning exhibits, and creating enrichment. Animal handling, grooming, and training demonstrations are also included.

THE ACADEMY OF INDIAN HERITAGE; AGES 6-12

Cultural-enrichment activities—including yoga, sports, arts and crafts, music and folk dances from India—are just part of what’s on tap at this weeklong camp. Each day features a variety of instructors with unique areas of expertise.

SPORTS

Choose from an array of options to keep kids on the move with a focus on fitness and fun. Some of the camps include trips to the Folsom Aquatic Center for a cool-down swim.

THE ACADEMY AND AQUATIC ADVENTURE; AGES 8-12

Participants will learn about lifeguard training and duties, and enjoy days filled with swimming and outdoor play. Camps continue weekly throughout the summer with all-day and afternoon sessions available.

TECH AND ENGINEERING; AGES 6-15

Kiddos will experience hands-on learning and fun with topics that run the gamut from video game design and robotics to computer programming.

THEATER; AGES 5-17

Give kids the unique opportunity to participate in a musical performance; all campers will have a role with lines and learn to sing, dance, act, and gain self-confidence as they take part in a live production.

Camps focusing on fine art and ceramics, academics, science, and dance are also offered; early registration is encouraged for all camps, since some sell out quickly.
