Folsom Hotel Saloon on Sutter Street now serves java from Temple Coffee Roasters. Open at 8 a.m. seven days a week, the hotel also has a great lunch menu.

Folsom’s newest escape room, Escape Folsom, is now open at 727 Traders Lane and also offers craft beer, wine, food, and a lounge area.

The annual Spring Eggstravaganza on March 31 at Lembi Park is looking for volunteers to join their Egg-Stuffing Party on March 28. Dinner and beverages will be provided, and volunteers must pre-register. To sign up and for more info, email [email protected].

A new style of burgers is on its way! Burgerim—a completely customizable burger experience where you can choose from one, two, three, or a 16 pack of patties (options include salmon, dry-aged beef, and veggie) and add flavorful toppings like bacon, avocado, and grilled onions—is opening soon at 1880 Prairie City Road in Folsom. There are new spring hours at Fairytale Town! Beginning March 1, they’re open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Weekday admission is $4.75 for adults and children ages two and over (weekend is $5.75); children ages one and under are free.

Willamette Wineworks—an extension of Willamette Valley Vineyards in Oregon—is opening at the Roundhouse, a multi-phase, mixed-use project at Historic Folsom Station. The business, slated to open this fall, will feature food and wine pairings and a hands-on wine blending experience for customers.

The Community of Writers at Squaw Valley has opened enrollment for its 2018 summer writing workshops, including a Poetry Workshop from June 23-30, and Writers Workshops from July 8-15. A handful of restaurants at the El Dorado Hills Town Center offer online ordering, including Chantara Thai Cuisine, Sourdough and Co., Selland’s Market-Café, and Rubio’s Coastal Grill.

Congrats to McKenzie Forbes from the Folsom High School girls’ basketball team for making the McDonald’s All American Girls Team. Players were nominated by their high school coaches, athletic directors, principals, and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee on the basis that they’re the country’s most talented players. Forbes was selected out of 700 nominees from all over the nation and will play at the All American Games, which benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, on March 28 at Phillips Arena in Atlanta.

One of Folsom’s most cherished Mexican food restaurants, El Pueblo—sited at 6608 Folsom-Auburn Road, Suite 1—has a new owner (Raja Martin) and general manager (Lucino Santoyo). They’ve also invited a live mariachi band to play on select nights and continue to offer a daily Happy Hour from 3-6 p.m. and all day on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Whips Desserts recently opened in Folsom’s Commonwealth Square at 711 East Bidwell Street, Suite 10, and allows you to pick your choice of cake or pie then have it whipped together with vanilla ice cream. For more info and to view the menu, visit whipsdesserts.com.

Out of Bounds Brewery is nearing the opening of their biergarten and craft kitchen at 13407 Folsom Boulevard. The family-friendly location will have bocce ball courts, outdoor fire pits, live music, and award-winning beers. The brewery is scheduled to have their grand opening this spring. Folsom’s craft beer community just got a little bigger (and better) thanks to Red Bus Brewing Company. The family-friendly brewery, owned by Erik Schmid and themed around a 1968 VW Bus, is located at 802A Reading Street.

Congrats to Sutter Middle School STEM Academy teacher Debbie Krikourian for being selected as this year’s recipient of the Project Lead the Way California Gateway Teacher of the Year Award. Krikourian was chosen for her demonstrated exceptional skills and qualities in inspiring students and teachers in the STEM field.

The 2017 Folsom Leadership class is seeking community support for their class project, which will develop trail signage on Humbug Willow Trail beginning at the Folsom Premium Outlets and ending at the Raley’s shopping center at Blue Ravine. The project’s total cost, which includes the design, signs, and installation, is estimated to be $12,000. American jazz guitarist Lee Ritenour (pictured here with his band) autographed a guitar and donated it to Guitars 4 Food, a local organization that auctions signed guitars off at various events to raise money for Twin Lakes Food Bank (TLFB).
