Touch of Understanding (ATOU) recently reached the milestone of 100,000 students participating in their disability-awareness workshops, since its incorporation in 1996. The nonprofit is now in schools across eight counties, including Placer, Sacramento, and El Dorado, and has a staff that includes a team of 77 volunteers—39 of whom have disabilities. They’ll be celebrating this milestone at their Art from the Heart event on April 20.

Blue Line Arts is calling for artists to submit entries for their annual Lottery for the Arts event on March 17. The deadline for submissions is February 6. For more info, visit bluelinearts.org.

UPS locations in Rocklin received United Way California Capital Region’s Cornerstone Award for their 35-year partnership with United Way—an organization that improves health, education, and financial results for low-income children and families—through donations to the community and many hours hours of volunteer work.

Placer SPCA is seeking nominations for their Hero Awards to be presented at the Funny Bones Comedy Show and Awards Night on March 23 where people and animals will be recognized for their heartfelt and courageous efforts to make our community a more passionate place.
