Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I teach art classes to children in my home studio and off-site enrichment classes for charter schools. I’d been teaching, on and off, for over 17 years; in 2013, I decided to focus on it full-time.

Why is your staff the best in the business?

I work with one of the best art teachers in El Dorado Hills: Tara Wister. She teaches her own art classes and isn’t only talented but the most patient person I’ve ever met.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Watching my children grow up and have other parents, teachers or coaches compliment my husband or me on how well we raised them. 

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

I find a way to laugh—either with friends, my family, a book or a movie.

What’s your hidden talent?

I make the best chili cheese omelet, according to my husband, teenage son and most of his friends.

What’s your biggest job perk?

I love watching my students beam with pride at the end of a class, as they show their parents the art they created. It doesn’t get any better than that.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

Aji Japanese Bistro.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Blaq Boutique.

If you could be in any other profession, what would it be?

A party planner. I love hosting parties, large or small, and always have a theme and throw myself into the decorations. 

And finally, customer service is…?

Very important. You need to make sure your customer is happy; for me, that means making sure my students are happy with their projects.
