Is Botox Right for You?

Jun 06, 2017 02:20PM ● By Style

Age--it is written all over my face. Don’t get me wrong, I know things are not too bad, but when I look in the mirror the reflection that I see has changed over time. The years of sun worshiping are starting to catch-up, and some of my signature smile leaves a residue even when I am done smiling.

When I was in my early twenties I became religious about applying eye cream. Which, quite honestly, has helped my middle-aged face. What no one told me at the time (you can thank me now if you are in your twenties and reading this) is that I should have been using sunscreen EVERYDAY, even in the winter, and probably put a little of that wrinkle cream on other places of my face, e.g, around my mouth, between my eyes, etc.!

So when some of my facial expressions were sticking around even when I was done “expressing” myself, I decided that it was time to take matters further than my own hands. That is precisely when I decided to visit Vitality Stem Cell & Aesthetic Medicine.

The wrinkle that was giving me the most grief is the one that had settled in between my eyebrows. Ever present, it was driving me a little nuts. Yes, you can lecture me on how I could age gracefully, blah, blah, blah. Believe me, I tried to give myself that pep talk, but I wanted to know what I could do to change this situation. We will call it empowerment!

However, I did not have a lot of money lying around for my beautification. So, I decided that a consult with Dr. Celia Remy would give me the information I needed to figure out if Botox was right for me, and more importantly, if I could afford it.

After my consultation, I decided to give Botox a try, but only with about half as much as the doctor recommended. I decided it was like cutting your hair, I could always add a little more but you could not take it away. Also, I did not want to end up like Niles on Frasier and not be able to move my forehead (If you have not seen that episode Google it NOW--so funny). I was just looking for a little softening of my line, a little “aging gracefully.”

I can honestly tell you, for me Botox was the right decision. I have found it an affordable way to keep my appearance looking youthful.
