The Importance of Taking Risks for Happiness: Lucy Righini's Story

Nov 03, 2016 12:43PM ● By Melanie Heisinger

Lucy Righini, Real Estate agent for Keller Williams Realty, was unhappy with her finance job, despite it's consistent pay check and security. On the side, she had been practicing real estate part time, and found so much joy in helping others.

So, one day she finally decided to take a leap of faith and leave that job to pursue her dream job as a full-time Realtor.

Now, Lucy is the happiest she has been, in a job that she loves. Read on to learn more about her inspiring story.

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF. WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Lucy Righini

I have been married to my high school sweetheart for the last 12 years and we have 2 beautiful boys: AJ (8) and Gio (6). I graduated from Santa Clara University in 2003 with a BS in Finance and BA in Economics. I have been in Realtor for 10 years, but only full time for the last 2. Prior to that I worked at Intel Corporation for 11 years as a Financial Analyst.

I would say my proudest accomplishment was having the guts to leave a job I was unhappy doing even when the money was good and the fear of failure was overwhelming. Taking a risk and doing full time real estate has been nothing short of amazing. I have more than tripled my income in the last 2 years while doing what I love and I am passionate about.

WHAT’S THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE YOU’VE HAD?

A year ago I ran into some of my favorite clients/friends. I had helped them buy their first home, and more recently sold their previous house so they could purchase their new one. Their oldest son tells me, "You are our family's hero. You sold us our dream house!" Are you kidding me?!!! How special and amazing is that? You ask me why I love my job and that about takes the cake!

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?

I will be focusing on growing my team in 2017. I plan on having 50% of Folsom's market share, and not stopping there. I want people to think of me as their real estate partner for life, not just one transaction.

I am also very passionate about giving back to the community. I donate heavily and sponsor many sports programs in Folsom, such as the Vista Jr. Eagles, and looking to expand more donations to other charities in the area.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

As corny as it sounds, it is very easy to do my job because I absolutely LOVE what I do. Everyday I get the honor to help people achieve their life-long dreams. It's a privilege and I don't take any of it for granted.
