The Hit List: Local Brunches in El Dorado County

California Kitchen

“California Kitchen serves a delicious, hearty and speedy brunch. My favorite dish, the California Benedict, has crispy bacon, avocado and poached eggs atop crunchy hash brown cakes (a nice variation from the same ol’ English muffin) and of course, a smothering of rich hollandaise. Pair it with a mimosa or Bloody Mary, and you’ve just won at brunching.” 530-622-7500

"Element is bright, new and modern; they have delicious coffee beverages, even better food and fabulous Bloody Mary’s and mimosas. The lemon ricotta pancakes are worth the drive from anywhere!”

“Only served on Sundays, The Farm Table has some of the most innovative brunch dishes in town. Often tempted by their seasonal crepes and omelettes, my go-to remains their Poached Egg and Duck Confit Hash. A specialty made in-house, the confit is cured then cooked in its own juices and fat, creating a tender fall-from-the-bone delicacy. It’s paired with toast, frisée and then topped with two perfectly poached eggs. Bon appetit!”

“The Independent Restaurant and Bar has a Bloody Mary bar every Sunday during brunch starting at 10 a.m. where you can customize your ‘Mary’ with a variety of ingredients and make it your own. Their brunch dishes are egg-cellent, too.”

“Sweetie Pie’s Restaurant and Bakery has, hands down, the best omelettes in town, plus special dishes featuring olallieberries, with a a fun, family-friendly ambience to boot.”
