Breast health is important, and there’s never a wrong time or place to express that, which is why The Breast Avengers are inviting everybody and anybody (over 20 years old and by appointment only) to 121 North Sunrise Avenue, Suite 815, in Roseville on October 20-22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for their first ever Thermography Three, a three-day health clinic where the Avengers will offer discounted mammograms for $179 prepaid and a half-price additional scan if attendees bring a friend or family member. Participants will also receive a discount card valid at local retailers and restaurants. The Breast Avengers have direct roots to breast cancer, as its founder began the organization after beating it and wanted to spread awareness and promote screening. “She doesn’t want women to wait until the permitted [40 years old] for screening,” Breast Avengers affiliate Nicole Shebl informs. Reaching out to a young audience helps the group establish a proactive culture, which is worth every second of time spent organizing the clinic. The satisfaction of “knowing that [this event] could help prevent someone else from receiving a positive cancer diagnosis requiring treatment” rests nicely with Shebl. Since many insurance companies don’t cover mammograms until customers reach 40 years old, this discounted event opens the door to a safe future for many more people. “More and more women under [40 years old] are being found to have breast cancer…you are your own biggest advocate, and prevention is cheaper than a cure!” Shebl reminds us.
