Get to Know Terry LeMoncheck of the El Dorado Arts Council

Aug 29, 2016 09:39AM ● By Amber Foster

Camino resident Terry LeMoncheck came into her role as the new executive director of the El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) after more than 25 years as an administrator for various arts advocacy organizations in Southern California. She had often dreamed of living in Northern California, so when the position at EDAC became available—she jumped at the chance. “I love the natural beauty here,” she explains. “I also love the people and the sense of doing good in the community.”

Even as a child, LeMoncheck was passionate about the arts and the positive impact it could make on both communities and individuals. “I’ve always been a writer, since I was old enough to write...I have a deep connection with books, writing and literature,” she shares. LeMoncheck also remains a strong advocate for the economic and cultural benefits that come from supporting the arts, and she and her team at EDAC have big plans for the coming months, including the groundbreaking exhibition Back to the Future: Fifty Years of Amazing Automotive Concept Art. The grand opening will take place October 1 at the historic Fausel House’s gallery in Placerville (for more information, visit eldoradoartscouncil.org). “The arts can help us understand ourselves, and each other,” LeMoncheck asserts, adding, “I’m just really honored to be working to support arts and culture in this county.”
