Go Fish with Placerville Recreation and Parks

Mar 29, 2016 05:11PM ● By David Norby

Your kids will fall for fishing at the 29th annual Spring Fishing Derby and Casting Contest on April 9! This day of fun, food (participants are provided with a hot dog and soda, thanks to the Placerville Kiwanis Club) and awards (given to the angler who catches the longest fish in each age group) will take place rain or shine. Thanks to the El Dorado County Fish and Game Commission, Lumsden Park’s pond will be full of rainbow trout—just in time for the festivities (9-11 a.m. for toddlers to second graders; 11 a.m.-1 p.m. for third through eighth graders). Children can also show their skills at the Casting Contest, sponsored by the Placerville Lions Club. Advance registration is not required and admission is free; bring your child’s fishing pole and bait.
