Women’s Fund El Dorado (WFED) Community Needs Forum

This informative evening was attended by more than 200 people and featured a buffet dinner and discussion about area nonprofits’ needs and challenges led by a panel of local experts—including David Ashby, director of New Morning Youth & Family Services; Ashlie Bryant, co-founder and president of 3 Strands Global; and Brenda Frachiseur, director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County. As it prepares to grant $60,000 to nonprofits in the 2016 granting cycle, WFED continues to be a major philanthropic force on the Western Slope of El Dorado County.

El Dorado County Search and Rescue Crab Feed
January 23 / El Dorado County Fairgrounds, Placerville
At this year’s crab feed for El Dorado County SAR, the 31st annual, 500 tickets were sold and about $15,000 was raised. Raffle and silent auction items included wine, artwork and plane tickets. Monies raised will provide special training and equipment for volunteers, who help keep El Dorado County a safe place to visit and explore.

Art and Wine with Something MORE
January 16 / El Dorado County Fairgrounds, Placerville
Over 700 guests—along with a record number of wineries, breweries, restaurants, caterers and a distillery—participated in this year’s annual fund-raiser for MORE’s adults with developmental disabilities. In addition to the food and drinks, attendees participated in auctions and raffles, and both perused and purchased artwork from MORE artists.
