A playwright who needs someone to back his next show. A mobster who needs some way to please his showgirl girlfriend. This could be the start of a beautiful friendship – or a brand new musical comedy! Loaded with big laughs, colorful characters and the songs that made the 20s roar, Bullets Over Broadway brings musical comedy back with a bang at the Harris Center for the Arts!

Based on the screenplay of the acclaimed 1994 film by Woody Allen and Douglas McGrath, Bullets Over Broadway brings the talents of Woody Allen and Tony-Winning director Susan Stroman together for the first time.

Bullets Over Broadway, The Musical, Written By Woody Allen, plays on Friday, January 29, 2016; 2 pm & 7:30 pm, Saturday, January 30, 2016; 2 pm & 7:30 pm,  and Sunday, January 31, 2016; 1 pm. Tickets are priced at $45-$75; Premium $79. A 10% discount is available for the Friday afternoon matinee.  Tickets are available online at www.harriscenter.net or from the Harris Center Ticket Office at 916-608-6888 from noon to 6 pm Monday through Saturday, and two hours before show time. Parking is included in the price of the ticket. Harris Center is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus in Folsom, CA, facing East Bidwell Street.
Hailed by Time Magazine as, “Musical Theatre Gold!” and described as “A Fun Machine from Start to Finish!” by The New YorkerBullets Over Broadway tells the story of an aspiring young playwright newly arrived on Broadway in 1920’s New York who is forced to cast a mobster's talentless girlfriend in his latest drama in order to get it produced.

The original production of Bullets Over Broadway premiered on Broadway in the 2014 season at the St. James Theatre and received six Tony-Award® nominations, including Best Book of a Musical and Best Choreography. The National Tour of this new musical comedy launched in October, 2015 and is traveling to over 40 cities in its first season. The Folsom engagement is the show’s Northern California premiere.

The tour is helmed by director Jeff Whiting, who worked on the Broadway production directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award® winner Susan Stroman. Clare Cooke will recreate Stroman’s dynamic, Tony-nominated choreography.

The creative team also includes Jason Ardizzone-West (scenic design), six-time Tony Award®-winner William Ivey Long’s original Broadway costumes, Carolyn Wong (tour lighting design and adaptation, based on the original Broadway lighting design by Donald Holder), Shannon Slaton (sound design) and Bernie Ardia (wig and hair design). Bullets Over Broadway features a live orchestra performing existing music of the period, including “Tain’t Nobody’s Biz-ness If I Do,” “Let’s Misbehave,” I’m Sitting On Top Of The World” and “Runnin’ Wild.”

Don’t miss what NBC-NY and The New York Observer exclaim as, “The Best Musical in Town!” with “zingers and puns, slapstick and visual gags, and tap-dancing chorus girls” (New York Post).
