Prepare to have your mind blown in the best way possible as you experience Umai Savory Hot Dogs. The modern, eclectic eatery has figured out the art of creating unique and delectable dogs with a Japanese flair. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a friendly Japanese phrase and presented with a variety of appetizing menu options on the restaurant’s back wall. It’s difficult to choose, since there are 21 signature hot dogs (plus a create-your-own option for picky palates), along with specialty dishes that range from zesty wings and waffles-on-a-stick to doctored-up French fries (like the chili cheese offering with Bourbon baked beans, chili and sharp cheddar cheese). I decided to experience a little taste of Japan by ordering the Shibuya Honey, which was an all-beef hot dog covered in savory ingredients such as roasted seaweed, sweet dried onions, terimayo sauce, dynamite sauce and unagi sauce. I kid you not—it smelled like a mouthwatering sushi roll—and was the perfect blend of Asian flavors on top of a traditional, all-American hot dog.
