On Saturday, December 5, cruise over to the Riley Street Denny’s parking lot between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in your showiest pre-1974 vehicle—decked out Christmas-style—for the annual Christmas is for Kids Toy Run. Hosted by the Cappuccino Cruisers and benefitting the Folsom Police Department’s Helping Families program, the entry fee for the car show is an unwrapped toy or $20, and event goers are encouraged to make a similar donation. In addition to having Santa on hand for photos, there will be crafters, vendors and Christmas tunes, as the hot rods, street rods, rat rods, custom, muscle and classic cars compete for Christmas-themed awards. Cappuccino Cruisers’ fans have likely seen these cars before, so their owners will have to up their boughs-of-holly game if they want to win. “There [will] be awards like ‘Best Decked-Out Sleigh,’ ‘Santa’s Choice’ and ‘Rudolph’s Choice,’” says Ray Marchese, cruise master of the Cappuccino Cruisers, a group who, through numerous programs and events, raises over $10,000 for charity each year. “This is one more way for us to help the community,” Marchese adds. Last year, the Folsom Police Department chose 40 needy Folsom-based families to receive the gifts. For more information, visit capcruz.com/events.html.
