September means the start of fall with heaps of new activities and fun for all!

Peruse beautiful quilts and wearable art, vendors and crafters, watch quilt demonstrations, and bid for items in the silent auction and raffle at this year’s Gold Bug Quilters Quilt Show at the Cameron Park Community Center from September 11-13. For more info, visit goldbugquilters.org.

Bring unwanted junk from your garage, plus yard clippings, tree trimmings, E-waste and general recyclables to the free (donations accepted) Community Cleanup Day on September 19, at the Camerado Springs Middle School parking lot from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Cameron Park Fire Explorers will be available to help unload items. Please, no commercial waste, oil, batteries, tires, rocks, dirt/concrete, large appliances or hazardous waste. On the same day, at the Community Center parking lot, sell your treasures or hunt for new ones at the Cameron Park Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to noon.

The Capitol Pops Concert Band—a 71-member group that provides toe-tapping entertainment—is performing on Saturday, September 26. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. Advance tickets are $10 each, $18 for two, or $12 at the door. To purchase, stop by Walgreens or Bel Air in Cameron Park, the Shingle Springs/Cameron Park Chamber of Commerce, Cameron Park CSD office or online at showclix.com.

Youth are encouraged to sign up for the various ballet, hula, taekwondo, gymnastics and art classes. Tennis lessons begin September 7 at Cameron Park Lake, and registration for NFL Flag Football (grades 2-8) is still open. Guitar, ukulele, yoga, Zumba, ballroom dance and other classes are also on tap! Mature adults are invited to the 50+ Room on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for bridge, mahjong, bingo various discussions, including “Senior Scams,” and more.
