Folsom High School Students Collect Books for Africa

Folsom High School students recently collected over 1,200 books for a library in rural Africa.
The students are part of the Global Perspectives Studies Club, which collected the books for the African Library Project. The students coordinated the book drive as part of the club’s primary service project.
The African Library Project coordinates book drives in the United States and partners with African schools and villages to start small libraries. Since its inception, the group has collected over 1.6 million books for 1,481 libraries.
Junior Caitlin Moher said the project provided students with the opportunity “to be able to provide an entire community with knowledge, which can lead to so many positive differences that can be made.”
Previous club projects include work to benefit homeless shelters and Doctors Without Borders. Another event at Folsom Lake simulated what it's like to live in a country without access to clean drinking water.
