Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Career coaching has always been a passion of mine. I even told the director of my college career center that I wanted her job. She took me under her wing and showed me the ropes. During graduate school, I realized I could someday run my own career coaching business. I went into education and taught students how to find jobs; finally, after years of friends and family asking for résumés and career advice, I made my business official. MK Career Designs is a dream come true.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I regularly work with local job-seeking groups to help members obtain employment. It’s rewarding to help job seekers overcome obstacles, develop an action plan, build confidence and prepare for success.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Professionally, I’m proud of taking my business from an idea and turning it into a reality. I’m proud of my clients who successfully complete their action plans and then find success. Personally, I’m proud of my 15-year marriage to my handsome husband, and my three awesome children. They’re my biggest cheerleaders.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Making a positive impact in my clients’ lives and helping them reach their career goals. Every client gives me the opportunity to make an impact in different industries so it’s never boring. It’s a great day when my clients call and say “I got the job!”

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

You can find us hauling out a very large bag of books at any of the Roseville library branches almost every weekend.

And finally, customer service is…?

All about the clients’ needs and life goals. Work life is very personal, as it affects every aspect of our lives. I get the privilege of walking beside clients and helping them maneuver their careers, while giving them hope and support along the way.
