Cowboy Gathering October 18-19

Oct 14, 2014 10:40AM ● By Brenna Mc Gowan

Welcome to The American River Folk Society’s first annual Cowboy Gathering on the Georgetown divide.  We hope all of you dudes, dudettes and your families will have a rootin’ tootin’ time.

Here’s what’s happening.  There will be four great theater shows in town featuring Dave Stamey, Sourdough Slim, Larry Maurice, Michael Reno Harrell, Old West Trio, and Keith Little, Patrice Webb, Jeralyn Strong, Stardust Cowboys and more. Rev. Cool will open Sundays gathering with Cowboy Church.   Lots of pickin’ and pluckin’, singin’ and dancin’.  Western art and craft’s,  demonstrations, also a “Mountain Man” living history area and a “Chili Cook Off”, Horseshoe Contest, Storytelling Class,  and Western Swing Guitar Class. Bring your Uke and Guitar or not.

There will be “good eats” everywhere.

An open mic area will be located in the Community Center and at the Beer and Wine Garden at the KFOK lawn in the main part of town for folks to go and share their talents in storytelling, poetry and song or just listen to our local folks play their tunes.  Several shops and the Saloon will also have entertainment.

You are welcome to gather some friends, find some hay bales to sit on and have an old time country jam session.
