Aug 27, 2014 11:16AM ● By Brenna Mc Gowan
The Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center is hosting the All Nations Run on Saturday, September 27 at the Shingle Springs Rancheria in Placerville. The 3K & 5K with optional obstacles is a family-friendly trail run, walk or stroll.

Entry fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.  Entry includes a t-shirt, medal and BBQ lunch featuring Olympian Billy Mills.  Registration opens at 8:30 a.m.  The race starts at 10 a.m.

This year, Billy Mills celebrates the 50th Anniversary of his historic gold medal win at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964.  To this day, he is the only person in the western hemisphere to win gold in the 10,000 meters. Mills is a member of the Oglala Lakota (Sioux) Tribe and grew up on the impoverished Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.   He lost his mother when he was only eight, and his father just a few years later.  Running gave Billy an escape and a dream.  He’ll tell his inspirational story at the BBQ after the run.

Register for the event at http://allnationsrun.eventbrite.com or the day of the event.  For information, please call 530-387-4183.  The Shingle Springs Rancheria is located on Highway 50 at Red Hawk Parkway.
