Amanda Youngblood
Oakmont High School
Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in Roseville, and I have one older sister. I’m a thrower on the Oakmont track team, and have been the CVC discus league champion for two consecutive seasons and am currently working toward my third victory. I have a passion for travel, and my favorite trip was to Europe with my mom, sister and nana. Other than throwing, my favorite things include naps, Netflix and the movie Forrest Gump. I’m busy at school with my participation in the International Baccalaureate program; as well I’m the ASB president. My involvement with Student Government has allowed me to plan school events and be a leader on campus.
What’s one thing that not many people know about you?
I’m very lucky when it comes to winning radio contests. In addition to various gift cards and DVDs, I have won tickets to see Flo Rida, LMFAO, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, and most recently, Bruno Mars.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on working over the summer at an accounting firm to save money for college. In August, I will attend the beautiful Lehigh University in Pennsylvania and major in international business. I will also throw for their track team. I am so excited to transition from a Viking to a Mountain Hawk!
Describe your career aspirations.
I’m not sure what I want to do for my career, but I know I want to travel and be a billionaire. I will achieve this by doing something in the business world—I’m not sure what, but find me in 10 years on my private island, and I will let you know. Or, you could read about me in Forbes.
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?
Although I have already been to Europe, I have not visited Italy. I come from an Italian family, and I’ve heard so many stories about it that I can’t wait to experience it for myself—the history, culture, beauty and food. Mangia!
