Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Malenab Soccer is a club and neutral soccer training company that focuses on player development; we help players achieve their athletic, academic and personal goals. Since being founded in 2001, Malenab Soccer has focused on player and team growth in the greater Sacramento area. Many players that have come through the Malenab Soccer program have gone on to play college soccer, using the game as a vehicle to gain an education that furthers the individual’s development beyond their playing days.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I believe that our community is what makes my passion grow for what I do each day. I’ve been fortunate enough to use my company to service more than just the soccer players. In 2010, I started a charity soccer camp, Charity Kicks, which doubles as a camp and toy drive. The camp is free – all we ask is that each camper donates a new unwrapped toy for participating in the two-hour camp. The toys are then delivered to children receiving treatment at the UC Davis Cancer Center Holiday Party (hosted by Active 20-30 Sacramento No.1). In the past two years, the camp has collected over 500 toys and has been featured on KCRA 3 news. Charity Kicks is held the first Friday of December each year, just in time for the holiday season.  

What’s your biggest job perk?

Working with kids and having them return after they’re done playing to say, “thank you.”

And finally, customer service is…?

Making sure that at the end of each day the customer is pleased with the work they’ve entrusted me to do.
