News 10 Anchor Cristina Mendonsa knows firsthand that hard work and determination line the pathway to success.

She got her start in journalism, first as a writer for local newspapers, then transitioning to a variety of jobs in radio. Despite the constant need to travel for work, she continued to pursue her college education, working odd jobs along the way to make ends meet. After graduating and landing her first job as an on-air news reporter for a local television station, she went on to cover new across the U.S., and even found herself reporting from far-off locations such as China and Israel.

Although she is now happily settled in Folsom with her husband and two daughters, Mendonsa hasn’t lost her passion for the news. She continues to develop original programming for News 10, in addition to learning 3D graphics technology. “As I’m getting older, I’m becoming much geekier,” she says with a laugh. She is also deeply involved in the local community, and each year participates in Every 15 Minutes, a program that educates high school students on the dangers of drinking and driving. For Mendonsa, the best part of her success has been the chance to meet her viewers. “I like it when people come up and say hello,” she says. “I never mind talking to anyone, anywhere.”
