Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Julie: We make each birthday boy or girl the star of their own fairy tale with luxurious, themed children’s birthday parties at a budget that you can control. We like to call them “luxury parties at recession prices.” We do princess, pirate, fairy and cowboy/cowgirl parties; in addition, we’ve created an indoor wonderland filled with wall-to-wall murals, a castle, forest, barn and even a pirate ship!

Molly: We found our business. We started off just thinking we’d do fairy parties, but since I have a son myself, I wanted to make sure that we included themes for boys, too.  The ideas just kept flowing and growing. Most people who talked to us about it were extremely enthusiastic and couldn’t help adding their own ideas. Then, as we started putting it all together and our friends and family came into the shop to see our progress, they offered even more suggestions. One of the things I love most about our shop is that everywhere you look, you see something that was created or imagined by someone we know and love. It is truly a family business.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Molly: I get to set my own hours and meet a lot of creative-minded families who treasure their kids as much as I treasure my own.

Julie: I get to bring my kids to work with me. They basically have a giant dress-up closet to play around in while Mommy works.

What’s your favorite local business other than your own?

Molly: Cruz Family Mexican Grill down the street – they are family run (like us), have great food and are so friendly.

Julie: Charlemaine’s Hair Salon on F Street in Sacramento – Ambre-Rose does the BEST “Mommy Makeover” hairdos.

And finally, customer service is…?

Giving the customer more than they expect and making sure both the parents and the kids feel appreciated and important!
