Describe your business.
I started my cage-free dog boarding/daycare business in 2004. At that time, we were the first and only facility of our kind in northern California. We offer a home-like environment with couches, TVs, play yards, and staffing both day and night; we do not use kennels or dog runs. All dogs must pass a temperament evaluation before they are accepted. We also offer grooming, obedience and agility classes. Dogs love it here at Aunt Cynthia’s!
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
I worked on an assembly line at a clipboard factory when I was 16 and learned the importance of teamwork.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
Sponsored by our customers, Aunt Cynthia’s participated as a team in Eppie’s Great Race this past July. The proceeds went to A Chance for Bliss (a local animal sanctuary) and also to the kennel at Loaves and Fishes in Sacramento.
Why is your staff the best in the business?
My staff loves dogs, plain and simple! They work as a team to provide the best care possible for all dogs, whether large or small. They are trained in pet first aid and directly supervise our guests with loving care, day and night!
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
I am most proud of the success of Aunt Cynthia’s Bed and Biscuit Inn. Despite the sagging economy, we have constantly grown our clientele. Also, I won the Outstanding Woman Leader (OWL) award from the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), Sacramento Branch.
What’s your hidden talent?
For recreation, I enjoy painting pictures of dogs.
And finally, customer service is…?
Customer service is everything! We strive to please all customers and are responsive to any suggestions for improvement. Come visit us!
