Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Sunny Patch Preschool is a program designed to prepare learners ages 3-5 for kindergarten. After teaching kindergarten/first grade for 10 years, I realized how important it is for children to have exposure to education and socialization prior to entering kindergarten. Intrigued by Maria Montessori’s theory of early childhood education, I went on to obtain my Montessori teaching certificate, and then carefully designed a program that integrates curricular areas into themes…sparking the natural curiosity in children. I am truly inspired by watching children experience new concepts and become inspired to learn more.

What’s your biggest job perk?

I love to learn, laugh, sing, dance and play with my students. Being able to get my hands dirty in a science experiment or an art project is a highlight in my day. Children learn through play; therefore, you will find us playing in our academically structured environment.

What’s your favorite local event that you go to?

It’s our family’s Thanksgiving tradition to join our community in the Run to Feed the Hungry. We enjoy walking with friends and family to support our local food banks.

And finally, customer service is…?

I am blessed to live in a community that values education. Our preschool offers small class sizes with a ratio of six children to one teacher, which allows us to individualize instruction based on each student’s educational goals and interests. Being a small facility, I am able to build a relationship with each student’s family, and I truly believe that this united bond creates an educational team and more enriching experience. Sunny Patch Preschool prides itself on presenting structured learning opportunities through child’s play. Choosing our preschool is an honor for us. We uphold the highest quality of education while nurturing the child’s innate curiosity about our world and how to function within it.
