Refresh. Renew. Rejuvenate. After tidying up following the Christmas craziness, we can finally relax and recount the holiday memories. However, you can let the indulgence continue with everyone’s favorite: Girl Scout Cookies! It’s that time again and the Folsom Trails Girl Scouts will begin taking orders on January 14.

Auditions for The Frog Princess and spring performances will be held on January 22 at Pleasant Grove Middle School, where performers ages 5-9 are welcome to give acting a shot.

Auditions for Anything Goes are also coming up! On February 28, performers ages 10-20 are invited to audition at Jill Solberg Performing Arts Theater at Folsom High School. For more details, visit edmt.info.

The Folsom City Zoo Sanctuary holds a low-cost rabies and microchip clinic every month on the fourth Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. Bring your furry friends on leashes or in carriers to the Log Cabin Building on January 26 this month! The Folsom City Zoo has also recently opened Fisher’s Beastro, a restaurant featuring gourmet teas, drinks and tasty treats!

Calling all dancers! On January 6, the El Dorado Dance Academy will host an open audition to perform in Los Angeles this spring! If interested in auditioning, call 916-933-0034 for more details.

Save the date! On February 12, A Chocolate Affair will take place at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Attendees will be treated to samplings of delicious foods from local restaurants, delectable wines, and of course, chocolate! Tickets can be purchased at chocolate-affair.com.

Continuing through January 8, Mary Russell and Andy Byrne will showcase their creations at the Arrives the Snow exhibit at The Gallery at 48 Natoma! For more details, visit patronsofthearts.org.

A round of applause goes to the Golftoberfest 2010 event, which raised over $14,000 for wounded veterans! Held at Auburn’s Dark Horse Country Club in October, this golf tournament was initiated three years ago by the El Dorado Independent Pool & Spa Service Association, who was inspired to support veterans through the nonprofit, Soldiers’ Angels. During the event, Soldiers’ Angels Founder and President Patti Patton-Bader received the El Dorado IPSSA Crystal Wing Award, which honors volunteers who go “above and beyond.” Congratulations Patti!

Balanced Rock Press will publish a compilation project: the El Dorado Hills Cookbook, consisting of recipes from locals, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Grace Foundation of Northern California. For more details, visit eldoradohillscookbook.com.

Love is in the air, which means the 10th Annual Valentine’s Ball is coming up! Make reservations now for this fun-filled night, taking place February 12 at the Social Center of Holy Trinity Parish in El Dorado Hills from 5:30-11 p.m. For details, call 916-933-2478 or 530-672-6568.
