Hot diggity dog!

Recently making its premiere on the El Dorado Hills scene, Ruffhaus Hot Dog Co. is dedicated to serving upscale hot dogs with a sophisticated dining experience. Strolling through the very festive Town Center on a chilly night in the hills, my stomach started to talk to me just as my eyes caught a very modern English-style pub. With a crowd full of what appeared to be a boys soccer team – dining and celebrating a win – a friend and I made our way to the quick-serve counter to place our orders. The detailed menu offered specialty hot dogs as well as B.Y.O.D. (build your own doggie) options, and a number of different sides and salads. After about five minutes of going back and forth on what to order, I selected The Napa with a side order of garlic fries.

Grabbing a table indoors, I noticed the self-serve beverage and condiments counter and soon one of the co-owners approached our table to serve and welcome us. As my eye-appealing hot dog was placed in front of me alongside the perfectly crisped garlic fries, I wasted no time. The Napa consisted of a turkey frank, whole grain port mustard, truffle arugula bacon slaw and Maytag blue cheese, all on a whole wheat bun. This, in combination with my garlic fries, left me with an incredibly full and delighted stomach.

With over 25 different toppings, 14 specialty hot dogs and 10 various side dishes, Ruffhaus is not your average backyard barbecue experience. All bread used by Ruffhaus is baked fresh daily from the Sacramento Baking Company, with the relish and sport peppers coming directly from Chicago.

And whether you prefer beef, turkey and veggie franks, or hot links, brats and Italian sausages, this hot dog pub has something for everyone – a must to stop in and try for yourself!
