Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

Home Buddies is a premier in-home pet care service provider serving southern Placer County. Pets are our passion and great customer service is our specialty! Being a pet owner myself, I know that I want the best care available from loving and compassionate caregivers who understand the ins and outs of my specific pet’s care – not a one size fits all service. That kind of individualized service is what we offer our clients (four-legged and two-legged alike) and why I became interested in this business.

What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?

I bagged groceries and learned that, from start to finish, customer service is important in every step of a client or customer’s experience.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

I want our clients to have fun with their pets! All summer long we have co-sponsored a weekly event aptly named “Yappy Hour on Woof Wednesday” for people to socialize over drinks and appetizers with their dogs and other dog owners. I am still thinking about possible events with other kinds of pets…I would love suggestions!

Why is your staff the best in the business?

Our pet sitters (a.k.a. Home Buddies) are very compassionate, experienced and knowledgeable. As very doting pet owners themselves, they always treat our clients’ pets the way they would want someone to treat their own pets – following directions to the letter and giving them lots of extra love.

What’s your hidden talent?

Staying calm in a crisis.

What’s your biggest job perk?

Meeting other pet enthusiasts and spending time with animals!

If you could be in any other profession what would it be?

I already did that – graphic design. I have a BA in visual art and marketing and had a 20-year career working in publishing and advertising. Owning my own business has been a wonderful new start at this time in my life.

And finally, customer service is…?

The most important service you offer! For us, it is all about going the extra mile to give our clients more than they expect.

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements.
