Local resident and Lincoln High School graduate, Urijah Faber, aptly nicknamed “The California Kid,” has gained international recognition as a premier elite athlete competing in the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) organization.

An accomplished fighter and businessman, Faber boasts a record of 23-4-0, runs a Mixed Martial Arts fitness training facility, Ultimate Fitness, as well as Form Athletics Clothing and Apparel, and is adamant about enjoying every moment. “I love life, the beach and hanging out with my family and friends,” he says. Faber spends as much time as possible outside of training with a tight-knit group of close friends and family.

A self-proclaimed “people person,” Faber is laid-back and easygoing...and shirtless. His positivism is contagious and refreshing as he discusses dedication to the sport, and plans for an upcoming match. “I’m dropping down to 135 [pounds] for a fight that fans are really going to enjoy,” Faber says. Disciplined in his craft, the formerly 145-pound fighter is slimming down to compete in the bantamweight division, in an August 18 match versus Takeya Mizugaki. We will certainly be in his corner.
