Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

We purchased our business in June of 1979. To survive, in 1980 we started a service center and worked on small engines, mowers, trimmers and anything needing fixing. To diversify in 1985, we opened a rental shop all in the same building. In 1992, we joined the “Just Ask” rental program and expanded our rentals until 1997 when we moved the store across the street, which is our current location. We started with one employee (me) and now have around 30!

Why is your staff the best in the business?

We do have the best staff in the business. In March this year we were voted “Best Hardware Store In Town” by True Value Corporation. We were voted number one out of 13 stores across the country. We have the cleanest store around and the best staff you can find anywhere.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

We have brought a small store in the community to one that is much larger and very comfortable to work in – that I am very proud of.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

If the going gets tough, my wife (Candy) and I depend on the Lord. We are very strong in our faith and count on Him daily. We are here today because of Him.

What’s your favorite place to eat out locally?

We love HeyDay Café and Gold Vine Grill.

Where do you and your family go locally to have fun?

We love outdoor activities, especially water skiing; Union Valley is a great place. We have camped there every year for the last 52 years - yes that is 52 years.

And finally, customer service is…?

It’s when a customer leaves your store and really feels that we did our best to give them the best service that can be expected. We call it a “wow experience.”

Do you know that our editorial is not paid for, nor can it be purchased? In fact, our Introducing and Dine reviews are not paid advertisements. If you’d like your business profiled, please email Wendy Sipple at [email protected]. Once we determine when your business will be featured, we will contact you to schedule a time to come out and take a photograph. Thank you!
