Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

As a marriage and family therapist, I counsel individuals and couples interested in new possibilities in their relationships. Life is often spent on “autopilot,” which in turn leads to a personal sense of dissatisfaction. I work with clients in developing an action plan to change behaviors and patterns of thinking that interfere with positive, rewarding experiences. By learning new techniques and taking an active approach to difficult issues, clients are able to reclaim their lives.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

For several years I worked as the clinical supervisor in the Department of Disabled Student Services at Long Beach State University. I enjoyed collaborating with other universities to develop a program that paired graduate students in psychology with learning-disabled students who were seeking academic and personal assistance. I felt especially proud and privileged to be able to share my knowledge and experience with others so that they in turn could fulfill their goals.

Where do you go when the going gets tough?

To regain a sense of balance or to just unwind, I enjoy taking a walk by the lake or on one of the many beautiful trails in Folsom. Getting outside draws my attention to being present in the moment, and is a great way to refocus my thoughts and better tackle my challenges. Finding perspective – by acknowledging the many positives in my life – allows me to gain renewed energy.

What’s your biggest job perk?

I receive a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment from being an important part of increasing another human being’s life satisfaction.
If you could be any other profession what would it have been?

Fortunately, my experience, training and educational background allow me the versatility to additionally practice as a Work and Life Coach. As a coach, I partner with clients in planning, giving constructive feedback, and clarifying values and goals, while developing an action plan for success.

And finally, customer service is…?

Working in partnership with my clients to create a rewarding experience. Many of my clients have been referred to me by a family member or friend who has previously worked with me. To me there is no greater compliment than a personal recommendation from a past client.
