Golfing with the Stars? The Athletes vs. Cancer Celebrity Golf Invitational, hosted by Matt Barnes and Bobby Jackson on August 8, at Roseville’s Woodcreek Golf Course, will bring professional athletes and celebrities together with amateur golfers for a day to fight one common enemy – cancer. The Placer SPCA will administer a rabies vaccination, microchipping, and animal licensing clinic at a low price for the City of Roseville on August 26, from 6 to 7 p.m. For more information, visit roseville.ca.us.

Cardiologist Sanjay Yadlapalli, M.D., has been honored as Sutter Roseville Medical Center Foundation’s Physician of the Year at an annual event in appreciation of donor contributions to the hospital.

Sutter Roseville Medical Center has also announced its intentions to expand into a Heart Attack Center for Placer County, a regional center available to heart attack patients around the clock; Sutter Roseville is hoping to become one of six local hospitals designated to serve as a center by increasing its interventional cardiology program. Sierra College has won a $216,000 grant to teach specialized programs, including technical, management, and process development skills, to businesses looking to train staff. Over 250 employees will be trained through the grant, which was awarded by the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program.

Roseville will be saying goodbye to its Chief Information Officer Tom Freeman, who has seen the job change throughout his career with the introduction of new technology, as he retires after 18 years with the City.

The Placer County SPCA was recognized for the third consecutive year by Charity Navigators as a four-star charity, the organization’s highest distinction!.

Artists, looking for a new project? Want to support the fight against breast cancer? The Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation and Women’s Wisdom Project will host their second annual Art Bra Show in September, and they are looking for artists of various mediums to submit work.
