Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?

I specialize in the recycling of furniture and décor for my client’s home or commercial space. My business is design. But in today’s economy it made sense to help my client save money by recycling what they already have into the design, along with a few new items to update the style and the look. I love to show my creativity and what I can do with little money, while still making things look fabulous.

What is the best part of doing business in this community?

I love meeting new people and learning how I can help them and how they can help me. We all work together and it seems to get easier once we all realize that we are all in the same boat. We need to work together to survive in this economy. Everyone really wants to help each other to succeed and I love that about living here.

How are you involved with both the community and your customer?

Junior League of Sacramento plays a big role in my life. I am a provisional member and am working hard to learn more about volunteering in the community. I worked with them as the head designer for the Saint John's Women and Children’s shelter, where I designed a women’s boutique that serves as a place for ladies go to feel better about themselves before entering the workplace. I am currently starting a program with the shelter to help women and children get into their first home. It would consist of utilizing my skills in recycling and designing with little or no money.

What life accomplishments are you most proud of?

Being true to myself. I have a wonderful family who supports me no matter how crazy my ideas are. I finished design school in record time and did it all while pregnant and managing a hectic household. I always follow through; after all, you are your only true obstacle.

And finally, customer service is…?

I pride myself on listening to my clients’ wants and needs. I treat them as if they are my only clients. I know what its like to feel like you aren’t top priority with someone and from that I learned that people respond better if you are there for them. Designing is such a personal thing. I have to know my clients, to understand them, to get the design just right. So on that note, it is what makes me successful.
