Brett Storey

For Brett Storey, being Mayor of Rocklin is not as glamorous as it may seem. “My job really is fiscal management,” he explains. “We just set policy and make sure [the City] is fiscally solvent.” In fact, Storey is only mayor part-time, in addition to his full-time duties as Senior Management Analyst for the Placer County CEO/OES office, and busy father of three. Since moving to Rocklin more than 16 years ago, he has served on the Board of Trustees for the Rocklin Unified School District and a variety of other school and community groups, and his current work for Placer County has him working on fire safety and alternative energy projects. He sees this experience as vital to his success as mayor, stating, “I have some business, finance and educational experience, so I tend to look at things as a balance. I take everyone’s considerations into account before making a decision, and make sure we implement a decision that makes sense.” He also feels that a key element to maintaining that balance is managing growth without losing the small community feel of Rocklin.

“We were named one of top 10 places to raise a family by Family Circle magazine. We don’t see that changing, if people keep the same values.” In the next 10 years, he hopes to see Rocklin continue to be financially sound, with more parks, a continued low crime rate, and more green technology, “a place where families can be raised and flourish with jobs close by.” Sounds like our kind of place.
