Sometimes music creates the kind of chemical reaction that is felt for decades…generations, even. Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel came together at the right time, and eschewed 1968’s psychedelia for a timeless mix of folk and blues, giving us gems like “The Weight.” Does it sound like ‘68? Or does it sound like…forever?

Consolers of the Lonely, Raconteurs
Jack White proves he’s as much of a collaborator as he is a talented musician with his side project band The Raconteurs’ second album. Far superior to their debut, Consolers of the Lonely is a bluesy, roots-y, rock and countrified showcase of the Raconteurs as a cohesive band, with White’s influence present but not necessarily in the spotlight. And that’s not a bad thing!
